I am selling my Shaker Madcat dynamic mic. I rareley use it anymore, even though it is in perfect shape. Since I have started making my own mics, I just don't need it. $50. They are $99 new.

How does it sound compared to a vintage Bullet or JT-30?

mine was much cleaner than any of my bullets, only used it for bluegrass jams, and for TRYING to learn chromatic. It was a nice fit for a chrom, but I still can't play the 'big boys' worth a flip!

hey fish, don't feel like the lone ranger. i've been working with chromatic for about 6 years now (thanks tim for the patience back in the day!), and i sometimes wonder why i tried in the first place! i may never get to "big guy" status, still, it does sound great when i hit on all 8 cylinders.

as for a cleaner sounding mic, this is not a bad thing. a warm tone like a jt30 etc is great, but there are times i want my sound to really have more clarity, and not just for chromatic either. my recent adventures have brought me to a sm58 type behringer, adapted to hi-z and plugged into my silvertone amp. this serves dual duty for both harp and vocals, and a fairly happy medium is possible. in the acoustic duo format i'm working with lately this is a good thing, less gear to worry about and very good sound.

hand, mouth, and throat effects can give one plenty of flavor to playing a harp, even through a clean as a whistle mic. there is also the grace of adjustable tone on plenty of amps which can be made to give off some grit.

when my ship comes in- if i'm not at the train station- i'll be a mad shopped harp, mic, and amp wise!!

This mic has been sold. I would like to add that its a really nice mic. I always liked the fact that I never had feedback problems with the mic. As I said in the origional post, once I began building my own mics, like any kid with a lot of toys, this one just got stuck in the back of the toy box. If any one gets the chance to use a madcat, by all means do, you will be happy with what you hear.
