Boss AB foot switch

Does anyone on this forum have one of these?  I want a A/B foot pedal switch to switch from a clean harp mic to a dirty one quickly in gigs.

I use a mic'd Silvertone 1482 tube amp.

Thanks [/i]

...have you thought about using it to switch one mic between going into the silvertone for a driven sound and into the PA for a clean sound...?

...saves buying two mics...or two amps which is the other way I see these pedals used...one amp set for a overdriven sound and one for a clean sound...

...but just to add variety...hang the mic thats driving the silvertone round your neck on the cable and blow through the vocal mic...man, that even spares you the expense of an A/B box... Smile

BOSS A/B SWITCH

The A/B switch is used to switch between 2 guitars or an effects set-up or switch from one amps to 2 amps.  So unless you have an effects pedal that you use for a different tone it really is not useful.

I use a BOSS AD 3 acoustic guitar processor for a couple reasons, it has an anti feedback system and you can change the tone your putting out, it can also be used alone and run right into the PA.

I had a ST 1482...nice amp I put in a 12AT7 OR A 12AY7 pre amp tube to get a little more volume and reduce the feed back.....also I have always used a Ron Holmes Pocket Mic on any amp without an OUT line.  It is a small box that is put inside the cabinet and it has a balanced line that goes to the PA.  It phase is inverted so it actually picks up the sound coming out the front of the amp at the apex 12 inches from the center of the speaker and totally eliminates the chance of feed back unlike micing an amp.

The last thing a harp player needs is another mic in the equation since it not only pics up your amps sound, it also picks up all sounds around it thus creating more chance for feed back.  Set the amp up on a chair and tilt it back on an angle and tie it to the chair using a bandana and run it through the handle .  Then stay on the opposite end of the stage where the guitar player is and with the pocket mic you can keep you volume low so you uae the amp as a monitor and let the PA fill the room.

I use the PM in my KZOO II and it sounds awesome through the PA....with out any effects....depending on what mic you use you should be able to control some of your crunch/clean by how hard you blow or draw also.

Or you could get a RON Holmes Harp commander and play any mic in it and control the compression, gain , etc...I have one for sale in the SALES site....BUT you have got to watch out for pedals since most of them are a bal out and our mics are primarly Hz which is unbalanced same as the amp...a lot of variables...

I have an AB switch to send two guitars to one amp.  Works great there, but for what you're doing - sending two mics to one amp - I don't see how it's going to make that much of a difference.  I like the "dirty - amp, clean - PA idea much better.  That's how everybody does it that I know of.
