Harp Mic Gaskets has a new owner!

After minutes of fevered, high-pressure negotiation and the best 2 out of 3 in a leg wrestling match, Jeff at Cumberland Cases has agreed to take over the business.  We are trying to set it up so there's little or no outage on the site, and very little delay in getting gaskets out to you.  Jeff and his partner Chris are going to be great for the business, and grow it in ways that I simply couldn't.  Look for some cool things to happen in the very near future.  God is good!

Congratulations to both you Tim, and Jeff.  Based on the quality of his leather products, I'd say you've found another who'll maintain the high standards that you and your gaskets have been known for in the past.

All the best to both of you with your new future plans.

Hey, that's great! I've spoken with Jeff and he is a really good guy. Glad to know its going to "stay in the family" so to speak. This is a really good outcome.

Congratulations to both of you.

Thank you all for your support and words of encouragement.......It means a great deal to me.  I'd also like to thank Tim for his support during the transition, I would not be able to carry on forward without his help.

I just wanted to say that I am just trying to be a continuation of Tim's dream.  Like the rest of you.......I'm a gearhead at heart and I would have hated to see all of this go away.

You can look forward to the same quality of gaskets and service that you've all gotten in the past.  I only know how to do things one way, the best that I can.

Please just bare with us for a couple weeks while the change takes place and well be back in full production.

Again my thanks to Tim and all his support and I hope that you'll be proud of your dream as it continues.

Jeff,
I'm looking forward to doing business with you. We've exchanged emails on ebay a couple of months back, I am grateful for your wisdom.

I hope you find a price that works and have a long run, there is definately a need. Best of luck with it, James Hoskins

Thanks so much for the vote of confidence James!  Tim is MUCH more knowlegeable than me, but I'm learning.  I've very excited about all this and I only hope ya'll will have the patience to stick with me on this.

As for pricing, I'm gonna hold still with current pricing for a short bit until I can get a good handle on what all it takes.  We may loose a bit in the beginning, but I'd hate to raise prices immediately and not know where we actually were and have to raise them again shortly after a previous price increase (see Hohner......).  I'd like to know exactly what it takes and that takes a bit of trial and error.

I just recently had to raise prices on some of my cases.  I never know exactly what the price of the leather is....it's priced by the sq. ft.  Every time I get a shipment of leather in, the "fuel surcharge" just keeps going up and I have no way of knowing what it's gonna be.  I haven't raise prices in about 18 months and just needed to finally.  I hate to do it but I can only hold still so long.

Thanks again for the vote of confiedence, some of you have emailed me privately.......some publically and it means a great deal to me.

Good luck to everyone. Thanks to Tim for all his work setting this site up and making this important, unreplacable contribution to harp heads. I will remain a patron for sure to the new guys. They sound great  All the best   John

Prices are going up for everything.  There's just no getting around it.  It's all tied to the price of fuel.  In this case, I'm not sure what they make urethane from, but I'd bet money you have to drill a hole in the ground to get the raw materials.  That means the price will be going up there, too.  If nothing else, for shipping.
Cumberland

Tim is correct......shipping for everything is going up on 5/12 according to the Postal service.  First Class mail, etc.

I haven't figured it all out yet but I will keep you all posted.

I think the gaskets are cheap with consideration that they are not to be found anywhere else in the world. I would gladly pay 10$ or more for
a gasket.(someone would probably kill me for saying that !)They are worth
the money, at least to me.

That's funny  Laughing .........don't worry, I don't price based on what the market will be willing to pay......I let the numbers speak for themselves.......

I see your point.....the natives could get restless................ Laughing

I agree with motown, and would much rather pay more than see them go away.  I told Tim not too long ago that I thought he was underpriced, in particular the multiple discount. I buy a lot of hardware and wood in my business as a cabinetmaker, and multiple discounts are pretty minimal percentages until you get into the thousands. I want to see this business survive, James

Don't worry fella's.......it ain't going any where.......it will just take us a coupe of weeks to get back into full production.

We started updating the website a bit yesterday and the molds are on their way..........

I won't know the pricing until we get back into production so we're just gonna hold the old pricing until we have the hard numbers, I think that's the fairest way to handle it.

For what it is worth, I am with James. I would not say that price is no object but, having quality gaskets available from a place you like is very important to me and is worth paying for.  John
