Hi, I'm a harp player from Italy.
I'm selling on ebay some in-line on/off switches for harp mics.

I have a friend that make these and other type of connectors (such as in-line volume controls).
We are thinking to make a Company for selling connectors, custom harp mics, vintage harp amps, boutique harp amps etc.
Here in Europe I've sold many of these connectors and all are remained very satisfied.
I would like to know also the opinion of US harp players about these items.
Do you think it's possible to make a business?

Hi Greg,
this is made by a my italian friend, that is also a great harp player. He will be happy to know about your compliments. I'm more expert in vintage harp amps.
The connectors are not amphenol or switchcraft; they are made by my friend with better quality materials; he doesn't like amphenol and switchcraft connectors; we use these hand-crafted connectors also for custom harp mics and for making cables; in particular for cables we use a connector installed by a crimp tool; in this way you will never need to resolder it. We don't save money using these connectors; we use them because they are better.

We use for this in-line volume controls 1 or 2.5 meg audio taper pots, military grade. They works very good with astatic JT-30 mics (crystal or ceramic), that are the most common harp mics with old style connectors.
If somebody prefers a 100k pot, that is good for CM and CR shure elements or dynamic mics, we can install it.
I personally prefer the 2,5 meg pot with all the type of harp mics: when I play I want from the mic the stronger possible output; so I use the volume control all the way up; I reduce the volume a very little only to avoid feedback problems; the in-line volume control is very useful, in my opinion, for this reason. When I play I change the volume not with the volume control but blowing sweet or blowing strong; a great harp amp with an overloading tone can give you all the the dynamic you need and a great tone also when you don't play strong.
For me is more important to have a volume control that provides a very little alteration from the original tone of the element than a volume control that provides useful control over its entire 270 degree travel but changing the original tone of the element.
This is the reason why, if I play with an amp that doesn't have feedback problems, I prefer to use an in-line on/off swtich instead of a volume control.
