Nice looking shell. How durable is it? Does it scratch easily?
Certainly a clean looking shell Seems like a complete kit that is available. Hope he does well with it. The kit looks like a GOOD buy.

I also wonder - if he made the molds directly from a Shure bullet, is it 520DX sized, or smaller like an older bullet?

I'm not exactly sure..........it appears to be near the same size as one of mine..............I just got this pic from another one of my mic buddies.......he got one and just finished it..........check it out.......
Looks great..........he played it for me..........no effect on tone from being plastic that I could tell..............he said it's great, painted great, drilled great...........perfect solution for the rising cost of mics.........

Most small and independent Body shops can easily paint this type of shell. They paint more plastic than metal nowadays! To get the best deal, stop in maybe an hour before quiting time with a 6 pack close by. Bet you can get it finished with whatever color they are finishing up with on a car at the same time. If you have an old mic ask them how to prep it for paint. Seems they like to paint anything but cars at our local shop. They do that every day but like to see something different to paint.
If anybody needs a controlled magnetic element or two I've got 70 or 80 at eBay prices without the hassle. Oh and 2 buck shipping couple bucks more for international.
Also, the small paint shops will have little bits of paint left over from job after job. Just ask and I'll bet you can get lots of cool colors. A small air brush or a detail gun will get you going. Give it a try!
