preamp tube order?

hello everyone, i noticed in tips section a reference to preamp tube order.  In my crate palomino v32 and fender Bjr  V1 is closest to the preamp volume pot and V3 is the PI next to the power tubes(el84 or 7189). V3 i always use 12at7 type because its huge current helps to overdrive the power tubes(i like white shield mullards). V1 gets TS 12av7 and V2 gets the rca 12ay7 , my theory is lower mu to highest mu to keep noise and preamp distortion down early in the chain? I figured this out on my own limited knowledge of amp design and experimenting and am looking for your experience or knowledge.  The palomino with 4 7189's and two celestions is crazy loud and only needs a 2 on the pre pot and 5 on the master vol pot to keep drummers and guit box guys and the pa at egual footings (i try to avoid pa feed when possible ,fairly easy with economy reduced crowds).  The Blues jr sometimes needs all at7's as it can't match up against 2x12s dimed( i have a 1958 jensen p12q about to replace the stock italian p12r reissue that came with my limited ed which has better tone and 2.5 Db better efficiency probably boosting my volume and watt rating by 66%). So anything to share?

Whatever sounds best to you is the best solution for you, period.

With 3 slots and at least 6 different tubes (12AX, 12AY, 12AT, 12AV, 12AU, 5751) that will fit in each and work, there are 216 possible combinations.
Personally, I have a high gain tube (12AX or 12AT depending on the amp) in the 1st (preamp) slot - and lower gain tubes (usually 12AU) in the next 2. Works for me!

Cheers

for my silvertone 1482 i run a 12au7 in the first slot and 12ax in 2 and 3. it has a jensen special design ceramic 12" spkr in it and maybe a differebt spkr would do better, but it's been working this way for 6 or 7 years now.

in the bassman i run 12au, 12ax, and 12au in 1,2,3.  it works and i think, why mess with success?  that amp has 2 flat cone speakers and i'm not actually sure what the other 2 are but they are different from each other.  one maybe is a blue flame?  at any rate it all comes together right on stage.
