Shure 520DX questionI opened up my bullet to take a peek inside. What do all the colored wires represent? Is there a wiring diagram somewhere online? What is the little box on top of the element where all the wires originate? Sorry if these are newb questions...

I'm assuming you're talking about a Shure 520DX...
The little box on top of the element is a transformer to boost the output of the element and make it high impedance to match your amp.
I'm doing this from memory but the brown and grey wires are ground, the red (or was it orange) wire is hot from the element. The way to know is the volume pot - which has 3 connections:
Find the ground first - this will include a wire soldered to the shield of the cable. That will be on one of the side legs of the pot. The other side will be the element "hot". The center leg will be connected to the "hot" of the output - i.e, connected to the "tip" of the 1/4" plug at the other end of the cable.
When the pot is all the way "off" it shorts the "tip" of the 1/4" plug to ground - this ensures 0 volume and minimize hum. When the volume control is at full, there is 0 ohms resistance between the hot from the element and that "tip" connection.
Does that help?
