Turner Elements?

I see people using Turner bullet shells for harp mics all the time. I never hear of anyone using there elements. What do they sound like? Anyone know? Do you think a step up transformer would make them worthy of a harp mic?

I'm watching a couple of e-bay auctions on them now. Just curious about the elements.

I won the auction. Cant wait to play around with this baby. I may be needing a gasket pretty soon. Wonder where oh where I'm going to find that!  Very Happy   Wink

what's the auction number..........I'd like to take a look at it.  Of all the Turners I've bought, most of them had either a crystal or ceramic element.  I've got a local buddy who plays with them all the time on stage.  He really likes them..................if you email me the auction number, I'll check it out.

Thanks bud, I appreciate it. 220317739540 I dont really look forward to it even working. The discription states, not tested. Which I hear is the sellers way of saying, it dont work.  Laughing  The main reason I bought it was for the shell though. Just curious about those elements. So it's safe to say, it'll have a cleaner sound than a Shure CM or CR?

I have a good Turner element in stock if you need one....

Thanks Greg, but I think I'm going to stick with putting a shure element in it. I tested it today, out of curiousity and I think the element in it is dying. I had to hollar into it to get any sound at all. It's like a quick burst of sound but thats it.

I cut off the base, trimmed the top fin and sanded on it today. It's a pretty good shell. I'm hoping the chrome polishes out, if not, I've got some PPG silver metallic. I'm still undecided about the base color.

I also got a Shure 520 shell I'm working on so I got to start getting a couple of shure elements, one transformer, two potentiometers, two Switchcraft 2501MP's, two Switchcraft 332A's and one Switchcraft 2501F.

I thought about using Mouser for the connectors. You guy's have any experience with them or have a suggestion on who to use?
gheumann

Mouser is a first rate company. I buy my supplies from them unless I can't get them there. But all my pots, connectors, etc I use Mouser.

I use MSC Industrial for my tooling. Amazing. The other day I ordered an end mill, a de-burr tool and some other junk from them, online, at about 5PM PST. Some of the stuff shipped from Nevada, some from PA - and I had it ALL the next morning!!! - for UPS GROUND rates. Absolutely incredible service.

i have one turner chopper that i decided to leave the dynamic turner element in.sure it is lower output than ideal so you really have to crank the amp.sometimes that's the point.
