Who is going to SPAH?I know Jeff (the new HarpMicGasket man and celebrated Cumberland Cases maestro) is - and I am. Anyone else from this board?
I'll be announcing a new product there (shh, its a secret until then) - the SM57-JR - which is a new SM57 with integrated volume control - no extra length or wiggles. The "JR" stands for "Jason Ricci" who assisted me in the development by testing several different approaches.
Cheers

Nice mike! Will you share the price with us. Is this a standard SM57 with a VC or do you do some sonic alchemy to it?

Price is $179. It is a standard SM57. The vol control has minimal impact on tone.

Way cool mic. How can we get this to high-Z?? You guys have fun at SPAH. Play your %$&$'s off!

Best way to get to hi-z is an impedance matching transformer at the amp. That keeps the mic light and the cable's leverage on your hands short. It also means a low-Z run to the amp which allows long runs and minimizes noise.
Alternatively I make an impedance matching adapter for the mic end.
