when did this happen?i was just down the local music store and he had three or four jt 30's of new manufacture, branded as astatic ,ohio.these were not blues blasters.
they have a silver hammer finish, screw on connector and a VC.i was very surprised by the screw on connector.
i couldn't tell what kind of element was in there.
i think they sell for around $60.so even if the element stinks,it is still a pretty good deal for the shell.

It happened a couple of months ago. Same element. Different position in the shell makes it less shrill and provides a bit more bottom end. The volume pot is better. There is cap inside it and some foam between the grill and the element. It's much more feedback resistant. It's actually a pretty decent harp microphone.
People were dumping on it in another forum. A players, who's opinion I trusted, recommended trying one. I dropped the $50 on it. I was pleasantly surprised. It's not as hot as the old ones, but it holds it's own and it's worth more than the $50 I spent on it. In fact, I'm going to use it tonight.
